Located just 120 minutes from Munich and 90 minutes from Innsbruck, Six Senses Kitzbuehel Alps aims to be the ultimate year-round alpine destination. 80 guest rooms and suites, 15 private chalets that have access tothe sprawling three-level spa which also features a non-invasive anti-ageing centre, a biohack lab and even a kid’s spa.

Soho House Paris

It’s long been awaited but seems to really be near as Soho House now features it on their website. In the former red-light district of Pigalle, the Soho House in Paris will have 35 bedrooms, a gym, and a courtyard garden overlooked by a pool terrace.

Primard by Domaine de Fontenille, Paris

We really like Domaine de Fontenille on From the Poolside and have reviewed it before as well as mentioned their new openings in Menorca. There will now be the possibility of experiencing their relaxed but stylish welcome in the west of Paris. Less than an hour from the capital, in the middle of one of the most beautiful parks in the Paris region, they are opening a noble 18th century house with around thirty rooms, a restaurant, a bistro, and a spa.It used to be owned by Catherine Deneuve!

70 Hectares et l’Ocean, Hossegor

My brother lives in Hossegor near the golf so I look forward to checking this next time I visit him! This is another of the Fontenille hotels. This hotel has been there for some time but will be redecorated while keeping its “Louisiana” style. It is the first Relais & Châteaux in France at the heart of a golf course.

Le Grand Contrôle, Château de Versailles

Surely the most opulent and grand opening of the year! If you ever fancied yourself as Marie-Antoinette, you will now be able to live that dream in this new hotel opening within the grounds of the Palace of Versailles. The Airelles Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle is a collection of 14 luxury rooms and suites with authentic decor that has been restored. The best perk is probably the behind-the-scenes access to the Domaine de Versailles with private guided tours. The restaurant will be by Ducasse and the spa will have a 15-metre indoor pool. One for those with deep pockets!

Bulgari Hotel, Paris

Located in the famous Triangle D’Or, where some of the city’s best luxury shopping, dining and attractions lie, Bvlgari‘s latest hospitality venture is sure to be the area’s crown jewel. This historic property has been designed with its 19th-century roots and contemporary luxury in mind and features 76 accommodations—most of them suites. Notable offerings include a Bvlgari restaurant and bar that opens to a charming courtyard garden, an 82-foot pool, and a spectacular location for experiencing the best of the City of Lights.

Revivo Wellness resort, Chateau de Fiac

The REVĪVŌ Wellness Resort are well known in Asia but this will be their first resort in Europe. Obviously the focus is on health and treatments with an excellent spa but also some sessions focusing on mental health. You can also discover a restorative salt cave and a four-hectare park. 

Le Chateau Real, Medoc

On the wine route, in a protected environment facing the Gironde estuary,  Le Château Réal is a renovated 19th century building. There are 5 rooms in the main house and a separate cottage for self-catering which can accommodate 10 people. Each bedroom will have a king size bed, a large bathroom, a dressing room and a lounge area.  You will be able to choose the view from your windows. On one side, the park and its swimming pool, on the other, the charm of the vineyards and the estuary. It’s important to note that access to the swimming pool for children under 16 will be restricted to some hours.

An exciting new addition to Greece in an island less busy than Mykonos. The concept of slow living is what drove the owners to create peaceful spaces and an organic interior design. Each room will have a private fresh water swimming pool and they will welcome families, in particular in one of the villas.

Built in 1734 and steeped in history, this former Archbishop’s grand country house became a hotel in the early 1960’s. It will be reinvented as a luxury palace with 42 bedrooms including 6 sumptuous suites. New additions to the hotel will include a magnificent ballroom and indulgent spa overlooking the gardens.

Oh I love the look of Casa di Langa! A sustainable luxury hotel in the heart of northern Italy’s Piedmont region, it overlooks 100+ acres of working vineyards and rolling hills. The soft, muted colors of Casa di Langa’s natural environment are reflected in the rich textiles and locally sourced materials for the room decor. Each accommodation features a spacious private terrace, relaxation area and a spa-like bathroom. There is also a heated infinity pool, with breathtaking views, and will offer organic treatments.

This one looks stunning and is definitely on my must list for when we can travel again. The estate is know for its villas but it will now open a hotel in June in nine bespoke farmhouses dotted across a 13,400-acre landscape.  Photos from the site of the decor are really exciting. There will be a restaurant, wine tasting, truffle and mushroom foraging, horseback riding with Andalusian horses at the Equestrian Centre. The spa will be called the Bath House and be in  the ancient wine cellars. It will have a plunge pool and no doubt there will be an outdoor pool as well.

Nordelaia, Piedmont

Nordelaia is a new independent boutique hotel located in the hills of Alessandria—the Piedmont wine country—between Milan and Genoa. The property is an agriturismo estate consisting of 5 hectares of land, newly planted with vines that will produce the hotel’s own wine. The existing farmhouse has been transformed into a unique twelve-bed boutique hotel with outdoor pools and an ornamental garden. The hotel focuses upon a rural-style of wellbeing, and we have designed a private spa for the guests within the vaults of the building, with new glass-fronted relaxation rooms that open up views of the valley.  

Il San Corrado di Noto, Sicily

In Sicily, bordered by the sea, on an old princely property in Noto,, this small resort with the Relais & Châteaux label, will be ready to open in April. On the hill looking out over the Mediterranean, 26 suites and 9 villas, with private swimming pool, scattered in a park planted with lemon and orange trees. A beach club will invite, after a game of tennis, a yoga session or a private fitness class to enjoy the sea and the beach, unless you prefer to do nothing around the two large swimming pools.

Soho House Rome

Soho House will also open in Rome,  in the heart of San Lorenzo. It will include a 32-room hotel two restaurants and a Cowshed spa, and unusually for this group, 40 serviced apartments. According to the pictures, there will of course also be a rooftop pool.

Borgo 69, Tuscany

Nestled in an olive grove in sunny southern Tuscany, Borgo 69 will feature 12 contemporary country villas from one to three bedrooms with hotel service. They will enjoy an infinity pool as well as private sheltered terraces planted with Mediterranean species. This opening is the new project of Paolo Kastelec and Philip Robinson, already owners of Fontelunga Hotel & Villas. 

The First Roma Aqua

Belmond Hotel Splendido Mare, Portofino

Sister hotel to the Belmond Splendido Hotel, which itself is also going through renovation, this will be a bijou boutique new hotel benefiting from the talents of French architects Festen Architecture  (they redesigned the Hotel les Roches Rouges on the French riviera)). Located in the beating heart of the port, on the Piazza it was formerly a shelter for fishermen. Guests staying at the Belmond Splendido Mare will have access to the Belmond Splendido Hotel (itself going through renovation) and will be able to enjoy its infinity saltwater swimming pool, spa and terraced gardens offering a panoramic view of the sea.

Villa Igiea, Sicily

Villa Igiea is a turn-of-the-century palazzo just outside Palermo which is being reinvented by Rocco Forte hotels . The rooms will be designed by Olga Polizzi (who also owns our favourite hotel in the UK) in collaboration with Paolo Moschino of Nicholas Haslam Studios, and provide classic antiques and sumptuous fabrics in serene shades. Classic parquet and exquisite Carrara marble will maintain cool temperatures in the warmest of summers but you can also refresh yourself in the sea or the outdoor pool.

Chateau de Mirwart

Mirwart is a small village in the middle of Saint-Hubert’s forests in Luxembourg. This chateau is being restored into 24 residences spread between the castle, the lodges which will contain larger housing units, suitable for several people or even whole families or groups.and the tower.
Wood, leather and natural stone are used in the design to bring modernity while respecting the history of the building. The underground spaces of the ancient medieval fort house will have indoor pools, jacuzzis, hammam, sauna, spa treatment rooms and an outdoor swimming pool.

New hotel openings in Spain

Casa Paredes, Caceres

A luxury hotel with 11 suites spread over its 1,500 meters. This historic property in Caceres was built between the 15th and 16th centuries. The rooms will be big with the smallest 60 square meters and all will have two showers with solid oak cabinets and marble bathtubs. In the old cistern from the 15th century, you will find the spa and it will have an outdoor garden and a swimming pool.

Can Ferrereta, Mallorca

Only for those with children older than 14 years old. The team behind Sant Francesc Hotel Singular in Palma has restored a 17th century building, surrounded by verdant gardens. Poolwise, you may want to splash for the suite with its private pool but if not, there will be a 25m swimming pool and a beautifully designed spa with hammam and indoor pool. Contemporary art will be a defining characteristic of the hotel with a focus on local Mallorcan artists.

Casa Pacha Formentera

Formentera is where it’s at in the balearic islands now and this small and ultra chic boutique hotel on a 7 km long white sandy beach has lots of appeal. It’s not clear if the “wellness area” just has massages and yoga lessons or a pool but given the location on the beach and the Caribbean colour of the sea, and the beautiful interior design, it’s worth listing it here for you.

Palacio de Canavezes

The Palácio de Canavezes resort will comprise 52 guestrooms and suites overlooking the River Tâmega on the edge of the Douro Valley, a restaurant and terrace with views of the surroundings.

The spa offering includes a PureGray health clinic and wellness facility, an indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room, while treatment rooms and a hammam are carved into the rock face onto which the resort is built.

Immerso, Ericeira

Ericeira is a cute beach town less than an hour from Lisbon. The first luxury hotel will open this summer. A five-star hotel with 37 rooms, a pool and bar, a vegetable garden. Nature is the greatest inspiration, and the choice of decorative materials leans heavily toward the natural and the organic, with textures of land and sea. It will also feature its own craft beer, its own surfboard studio and a restaurant run by Michelin-star chef Alexandre Silva.

You heard it first here when it was still called Shatwell House. Supposed to open in 2020, Covid obviously delayed plans for this family-focused offset of the fabulous Newt. It will be a series of 17 accommodations units, mostly self-catering and with a private garden/space for most of them arranged around a central courtyard with a series of services for guests. Their plans indicate a ‘pool barn’ which I understood from the lady in the Newt would be a spa and have an indoor pool, an activity/play area for children, a croquet lawn, a breakfast room, a games room, a buggy parking.

The Harper, Langham, Norfolk

Set in an old glass blowing factory in Langham, this unique hotel has embraced its history by adding bespoke glass features throughout and incorporating an artfully mismatched design.  The spa has an indoor pool and if you go out, you can borrow their bikes and ask for their recommendation for the best walking routes.

The Woodward, Geneva

A historic transformation creates Geneva’s first all-suite hotel. There are only 26 suites with of course great attention to design and details such as marble fireplaces and bookcases. 21 of the suites have a full lake view. The spa will be by Guerlain and will have a 21m long swimming pool.
