Move away Ibiza, Mykonos or Mallorca, Menorca is the new destination island! Two new hotels with pools are sure to attract those who want to enjoy their Menorca holidays in style. I added them to my list of new hotels with pools as well.
Fontenille Menorca, the most tranquil place for your Menorca holidays

We have been following the Domaines de Fontenille for a while. From spotting their first opening in Provence, to reviewing it not long after to having conversation with them about the newly opened Les Hortensias in Hossegor where my brother lives.
They now have opened two fincas on more than 300 ha of land: Santa Ponsa and Torre Vella. Both fincas are true to the local architecture and style of white walls with terracotta.
Fontenille Menorca: two experiences in one
The decor is different between the two: Torre Vella has a more relaxed bohemian vibe with stone walls, wicker, natural textures, whereas Santa Posa dares with some dark greens and a more luxurious feel.
Torre Vella is nestled at the bottom of a valley and offers 17 rooms with large terraces and, for the most part, private pools. It’s well set for tranquillity but also proposes a complete fitness program where yoga features prominently of course. The restaurant here is mainly vegetarian. You can also get a massage outside and have a drink on the cliffs overlooking the sea.
Santa Posa is totally dedicated to wellness and finding a healthy balance. The hotel offers 21 rooms and suites which are located in the main house, former barns and separate buildings in the gardens. The decoration of the house reflects the owner’s penchant for travel at the time : colonial architecture, rattan furniture and a beautiful conservatory. The spa will open in 2020 and be located inside majestic 18th century cisterns. There will be covered lap pool, aquatic trail, hammam, sauna, Nordic baths and massage rooms.
Domaines de Fontenille also has an agricultural activity with vast vineyards (their wine in Provence is really good so hopefully this will have the same success), as well as massive orchards with hundreds of orange trees, lemon trees, pomegranate trees, olive trees. Olive culture is celebrated with a distillery of aromatic essential oils and an oil press.

Menorca Experimental, making its mark as one of the most stylish Menorca hotels
© Menorca Experimental and Karen Balas
Opening on August 15, Menorca Experimental is the last child of the Experimental Group which opened hotels such as Henrietta in London . From a traditional 19th century finca, interior designer Dorothée Meilichzon has created a unique décor with graphic lines and figures reminiscent of Chagall. Terracotta headboards, golden rattan seating, green accents reminisce of the colors of the island.
Downstairs, a large dining room populated with wooden tables, coloured ceramics, baskets and straw hats welcome you. Upstairs, the rooms have simple furniture, declined in pale pink or green water shades. A soft bed sits in the middle, not far from a desk facing the garden. Some of them have a sea view. The bathrooms have an old-fashioned bathtub. No television, you are here just to relax, read a book and contemplate nature.
Nine private villas for your family holiday in Menorca
For families, there are nine private villas that offer more space. Sheltered by white walls and green shutters, they include for some small kitchen areas and all have pools with views of nature. And an (almost) direct access to a turquoise cove surrounded by cliffs.
Outside, the hotel has a lovely infinity pool with attractive lounge beds and shaded areas. The hotel also acts as an agricultural domain with a vegetable garden and olive trees will serve that will provide produce for the restaurant.

Location and where to eat in Menorca
Fontenille Menorca and Menorca Experimental are really close to each other so you could easily divide a week on the island between the two places.
This article has good ideas about what to do and where to eat in Menorca. It’s in Spanish but can easily be translated via Google Translate.
So here you go, if you are looking for hotels on Menorca, look no further than those two. I also have a few more addresses of hotels without a pool which I will send to my newsletter subscribers. Make sure to sign up!
You could also check Torralbenc, which I featured before. I’m sure that we’ll soon see more boutique hotels in Menorca so make sure to get there before it becomes too crowded.
