Maybe my usual holiday crush for Greece is starting to get competition from the Balearic islands as I am talking to you about Minorca today, after the lovely hotel featured last week in Mallorca!
I am actually looking at both as we start thinking of our next summer holiday. As usual, I will be, surfing the web for ages in my quest to find that perfect place where we can relax but being me, won’t actually book anything until April ! Hopefully my finds will be helpful for those of you being more organised.
We want to do our usual combo of renting a house one week and staying in a hotel the second week. Predi Son Jaumell is a good candidate as is today this brand new Hotel Torralbenc in Minorca.
Low-key luxury in the countryside
Minorca has a more low-key vibe than its sisters and as a result had more self-catering accommodations than hotels but this seems to be changing. I read somewhere that another luxury hotel is about to open too. As soon as I find the information again, I’ll post something probably on the Facebook page.
Torralbenc has been opened only since summer 2013. It is perched in a hill in the middle of the countryside and only 20 minutes from the airport. An old farm has been restored and the stables have also been converted. Some rooms have seaview and for families, the two cottages (one with private pool) offer more space and privacy.
The hotels kindly let me use their photos, which are owned by them.
