Are you looking for your ski hotel this next winter season? I imagine that after two winters where it’s been really difficult to go skiing in Europe, you are eager to find the best ski hotels in France, Italy, Austria or Switzerlan
I had prepared that list of luxury ski hotels with swimming pools for a while but now is the time to publish it. There are some new ski hotels opening in the Alps so hopefully you’ll find something that is to your taste.

Hotels with pools in Austria
Arlberg, Lech

A family hotel opened since 1956 with a great tradition of welcome. The hotel is right in the heart of village life and, importantly, ski/in – ski/out opposite the main ski lifts. The ski & boot room connects directly to the local ski and rental shop in town!
There are a variety of room options for families and the staff can assist with ski lessons recommendations. During the winter season, their in-house kids club with professional childcare from 3pm – 9pm is included in the room rate.
There is a spa with an outdoor heated pool (heated waters up to 31°C as well as hydro-jets and measuring 14×6 meters). Indoor there is a 11-meter long sports pool. Both pools are available to adults and children.
Wiesergut, Austria

Located directly on the ski slopes of Saalbach-Hinterglemm and framed by age-old mountains, this 14th-century family estate was transformed into a modern retreat.
Bespoke furnishings by Austrian designers commissioned exclusively for Wiesergut adorn the hotel’s private quarters, from hand-blown glass chandeliers right down to the steel door handles . The heated indoor pool is in the spa, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over meadows and mountains in summer or swathes of snow in winter; children are welcome as long as under-12s are supervised. On the other side of the glass walls, there’s an 80sq m outdoor heated infinity pool with built-in sunloungers.
Children of all ages are welcome and under-4s stay for free. They can run riot on the hotel lawns and the restaurant has a playroom (and a children’s menu).

The hotel enjoys an incredible location in the centre of Avoriaz, with skiing off from the doorstep to explore the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest ski areas in Europe and in particular just a few metres from the meeting point for skiing lessons given by Avoriaz’s famous Children’s Village. There is a restaurant and a spa with an endless infinity pool, sauna, cardio-training room and massage room, as well as a terrace and lounge bar with a fireplace.
Children are well looked after: Mini8 is a play area exclusively for children, with a climbing wall, amongst other games. During the school holidays, there is a mouthwatering, festive afternoon tea… while parents can go enjoy the spa. There is a special children’s menu at the Restaurant.
Le Chabichou, Courchevel

Its distinctive white wood chalet exterior has become iconic in this famous resort. With ski-in/ski-out access to the centre of the resort, a ski shop, a two Michelin starred restaurant and good rooms for family, it’s a very convenient choice. Plus it’s been completely renovated in 2019. There is a large spa and an indoor heated pool.
Six senses residences, Courchevel

Not a hotel but a series of ski-ready apartments in the 1850 village. Perfectly placed for both ski and après-ski. The brand’s famous spa offers several treatments and an outdoor hot tub where you can admire the mountains. There’s a heated family-friendly indoor pool at the spa with added outdoor Jacuzzi.
All ages are welcome. Extra beds and baby cots can be added to suites, and there are multi-room apartments available.
Les Chalets du Mont d’Arbois

The property is an eight-figure renovation of a family-owned hotel comprised of historic chalets belonging to the Edmond de Rothschild family. The boutique hotel consists of three large chalets, Eve, Noemie and Alice. Eve is the main building and includes 25 guest rooms and suites, a 1-star Michelin restaurant, Prima, and spa with indoor/outdoor pool. Alice and Noemie have sixteen more rooms and suites between them, and both are set up so they can be booked as private takeovers.
Refuge de la Traye

The Refuge de la Traye has just seven bedrooms, spread across two chalets, plus two mazots (the tiny mini-chalets traditionally used to store valuables), each now converted into chocolate-box accommodation for up to four (close) friends.
There’s also a restaurant with a large terrace and wine cellar, plus a spa offering milk baths and hay beds, a sauna, hammam, yoga suite and outdoor Jacuzzi. Close by stands the minute but exquisitely painted Chapelle Saint-Bernard, and there are donkeys, sheep and goats that children can feed.
Peace is guaranteed: in winter, the only way to get here is on skis (off-piste from the Olympic lift, or ski touring up from the hamlet of Les Allues), by snowmobile or in the Refuge’s tracked Venturi Antarctica vehicle.
Le Coucou, Meribel

Created by the French designer Pierre Yovanovitch, Le Coucou injects a quirky, modern twist into the classic Alpine design tropes. It sits beside the pistes in the Belvedere area of the village and has 55 suites and rooms, two restaurants and both indoor and outdoor pools.
Le Grand Soleil d’Or, Megève

The Grand Hôtel du Soleil d’Or first opened its doors in 1901 in Megève and reopened in December 2019 following a transformation. 16 rooms and 3 chalets are really cozy with a richly indulgent chocolate theme. There is actually a proper Chocolate Factory in the hotel. Plus a restaurant, panoramic Bar with fantastic mountain views, some independent chalets and a spa with a heated swimming pool.
L’Armancette à Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce

On the heights of St. Gervais, L’Armancette offers 17 rooms and suites from 23 to 58 square meters with contemporary decor: parquet and furniture in light oak, flannel, leather, old brushed or gray wood, marble bathrooms … Among all the benefits of the place, there is a tea room, a wellness center with Kos spa, a semi-covered heated pool, a wine bar and a kids club.

Up on the mountain, the summit station of the resort’s first cable car has been transformed into a high-altitude hotel, 2,551m above sea level. Le Refuge de Solaise was due to open last winter but was delayed by heavy snow; it now offers 16 bedrooms, four apartments, a restaurant and a dormitory for 14. A 25m length swimming pool facing the mountains, two jacuzzis, two saunas and four treatment rooms. Fabulous views — and first tracks in the morning — come as standard.

Near Mont Blanc, le Cerf Amoureux is really a boutique hotel with just 11 rooms. Housed inside a typical Alpine chalet, the decor pays homage to the region with a touch of scandinavia. For apres ski, you can enjoy the private cinema, sauna, hammam, Jacuzzi, and an heated outdoor pool overlooking the rolling Alps. The rooms can be small starting at 16sq meters up to bigger suites at 35 square meters. For families, try the family rooms or the 3 bedroom apartment. The heated pool is only open in summer.

Although there is no childcare in the pure sense of the word, it is definitely a ski hotel where families feel very supported. It is in the center of Morzine and very close to the ski school. Regulars love the laid-back charm of the place and return year after year. The hotel, with a capacity of 29 rooms, 23 of which are equipped with kitchenettes, hosts evening meals for children each evening, bringing together all ages in a cheerful setting. There is also a games room, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a sauna, a hammam, a massage room and a fitness room. You can borrow umbrella beds, high chairs and baby baths, and children under 12 stay for free in their parents’ room.

Le Massif opened in the heart of Courmayeur this month, with a sister restaurant, La Loge du Massif, right by the slopes. The 80 rooms are mountain style by way of Milan: wood-panelled walls and floors with sleek grey, white and chocolate furnishings, and windows that look straight out to the mountains. There are two restaurants, a state-of-the-art spa and kids’ club.

A ski/mountain hotel in the most northern region of Italy around a 5800 sq. m lake in an unspoilt reserve, set in 40 hectares of alpine park. The lodges are perfect for families. The barn-sized bath hall, airy and warm at the same time,has a large swimming pool with an open fireplace. The light-flooded bathhouse leads to the heated outdoor pool and the pleasantly warm whirlpool in the middle of the lake.
