Sensi Azores, a restored farmhouse with pool in Sao Miguel
Some of the islands in the Atlantic have always been a bit of a challenge for me: Tenerife, the Azores for instance. They seem to be quite far away but also rough and rugged. However, some new properties are starting to open there embracing their surroundings and at the same time providing a bit more luxury than before.
This is the case for Sensi Azores which opened on February 2020 in Sao Miguel Island in the Azores. Both for its surroundings and architecture, Sensi conveys the strength of nature that carved São Miguel Island. Within car distance of Ponta Delgada, the Lagoa das Sete Cidades or any part of the island, its location will allow you to discover everything that St. Miguel has to offer.
This restored old farmhouse is surrounded by both the blue ocean and the wild green nature. The main house, the previous outdoor kitchen, the caretaker’s house and the stables retain the original personality and textures, but new modern furnishing adds all the required comfort.
Everything for families to relax
Inside the main house, you can find a lounge, the restaurant and bar as well as 4 bedrooms. 16 other bedrooms are located around an interior courtyard garden and you can also rent the separate villa, which despite its name only has one room.
It is however good for families as most rooms can accommodate one extra bed.
Natural materials, like wood, are combined with hydraulic tile, iron and basalt. The décor respects sobriety and the dialogue between nature and the surroundings.
There are a plunge pool and a rattan hanging chair on the terrace of some rooms. The exterior pool is quite large (11×13 m) and faces the sea. There is also an indoor heated pool in the spa.
All in all a good offering which I’m looking forward to hearing more about.
