Years ago, my sister, a friend and I went backpacking in Greece. It was my first trip to Greece but not the last one.
We started in Athens, went to the Peloponnese to discover Delphi (magic, please do go) and then did a night long ferry transfer to the Cycladic islands. We then island hopped and arrived in Folegandros, which at the time (I’m talking 20 years ago) was so away from the tourist trail that we couldn’t find where to sleep.
We ended up having it rough on the floor of a building-in-progress school !
From sleeping on a floor to a design hotel
I didn’t close an eye through the night, afraid we could be attacked. I shouldn’t have worried as Folegandros was the most peaceful, magic and welcoming island. The memory of our first diner in the central square under the trees is still with me.
Anyway, should we go back now, it looks like there’d be more options to choose from .
For instance this design hotel, with a pool, wifi, bathrobes even a tennis court, etc.. I like the white decoration with colouful touches although some rooms might be a bit too “design” and cold for some. In any cae, a big change from our school floor !
More to come soon on the places I found in Hydra or Santorini in my past Greek trips and you will remember I talked about Corfu before of course.
