10 of the most beautiful villas with pool in Portugal

Portugal Rentals

I read that the French are the foreigners who buy the most villas with pool in Portugal. The white washed walls, Atlantic coast and sun is a key attraction. Many of them have transformed old houses into beautiful retreats.

Not all the houses on this list are owned by French people but they all are absolutely stylish and sure to be a great base for a holiday in Portugal.

Located in the furthest eastern point of Portugal’s Algarve, with Spain just across the Guadiana river, Vila Real de Santo Antonio is a truly hidden gem. Near the middle of the historic, pedestrian centre and with a charming marina in the distance, 3 houses have been redecorated with tons of charm and taste. A blueprint for my dream holiday house if I buy one one day. The houses have pools and are really good for families.

Casas Portugal

Casa agostos offers 3 double bedrooms for maximum 6 guests and is situated in the hilly hinterland of the Algarve region, near the picturesque village of Santa Bárbara de Nexe.

Once rundown and neglected, this traditional house has been rebuilt and extended with an annex to the original structure featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms, while new wing houses a large living room with a fireplace. The minimalist interior design, the concrete flooring and linear shapes combine to create a pleasant modern ambience.

The 15-meter-long pool in the garden is built into a large concrete block, which partly sinks into the ground and defines the border of the property.

Casa Modesta

A family house opening its doors to tourism in an almost unknown land, facing the sea and in the heart of the Ria Formosa Nature Park, considered one of Portugal’s seven wonders. We may sound biased if we say that from Casa Modesta you witness the best morning in all the Algarve, but from here we can watch the migration of birds, the practice of shellfish gathering or the harvesting of salt, and everyday we are astonished by the small miracles that Nature performs.

Casa Opala – Olhão

I read that the French are the foreigners who buy the most villas with pool in Portugal. The white washed walls, Atlantic coast and sun is a key attraction. Many of them have transformed old houses into beautiful retreats.

Casa Opala is a renovated cubic Moorish-style townhouse with private rooftop pool in the heart of historical Olhão. This beautiful old fishermen’s house is restored to its formal glory and tastefully decorated.  The private rooftop pool offers a magnificent view over the old city.

A vacation home for rent in the beautiful region of Alentejo, Portugal. A blend of early century traditional architecture and contemporary design in the countryside.  The house, buit in 1939, was renovated by a family who has spent holidays in the region since childhood.

It can accommodate up to 12 people (6 adults and up to 6 children). A fully equipped kitchen opens to a large living room with a fireplace and a large window facing an oak cork forest. Outside, there are three hot water showers that you can enjoy while watching the nature (or the stars at night). The 11 x 5m swimming pool with a large deck is just a few steps away.
