We really should book our holidays earlier ! Every year I find myself stressing over it in the spring even though I said in December “right, we need to book before Christmas”.  So here we are in March and I finally get round to looking at holiday lettings in Ile de Ré.

If you haven’t been yet to Ile de Ré, I really encourage you to go. It is a bit invaded by Parisians in the summer but the island and the beaches are big enough that the crowds are spread. The villages are very pretty, you can go everywhere by bike and the weather is generally OK.

My own Ile de Ré holiday challenge

So yes, this week, the holiday challenge was mine : finding a villa for two families together (which then became 3) in Ile de Ré with enough bedrooms for all of us , a big garden so that the children can play around, a decor not too shaddy and located either in St Martin de Ré, La Flotte , La Couarde or Le Bois-Plage as they are more central villages. And they had to  still be available !

The price is really good  probably because there are only 2 bedrooms and a sofabed for the last two people.  You are close to other villas so it’s good if you don’t want privacy absolutely.

See at the end of that street ? Yes, it’s the beach and the sea.  Lovely location and the decor is quite nice. There is a good garden too.

A colourful family house in Ars-en-Ré

Love the colourful decoration in this house. Ars-en-Ré is also a very pretty village. There is no garden though, only this patio, which is common when you rent a village house in the island.

Sleeps: between 4 and 6 (depending on the lodge)

Price: between 3000 and 4000 euros

Of course, at that price, these 4 houses are still available at various weeks this summer. They have a nice design though and the pool is heated which is a bonus. Nice safety feature also with a retractable wooden floor over the pool which also expands the garden area.

Yes, it’s expensive  and yes, it’s for more than 6 people so not fitting the brief. But it is the only authentic old house in that list and is very stylishly decorated throughout. Plus it accommodates up to 11 people. So if you go as several families you can really have a home away from home in Ile de Ré at a good price. Go through the site to view all the lovely rooms.
