Puglia has done a very good job at marketing itself and you certainly have read many articles about its beaches, white trulli and scorching summer.

If you were left wondering where to go, here are a few Masserias that I spotted over the past few months. Some have heated pool like those in this post.

Masseria Cervarolo, Ostuni

This beautiful hotel with pool has been a winner of Mr and Mrs Smith’s best budget boutique hotel so it is quite a treat.  The beautiful beach entrance pool (with a guard!- fantastic breakfast and lovely decorated rooms (some of which with a sofa bed for two children) should make it a hit with everyone in the family.

La Fiermontina, Lecce

Set within the walls of Lecce,la Fiermontina is an 17th century private home which offers a more minimalist decor. There are gardens though and even a pool. It is small but refreshing and is a peaceful oasis as it is urrounded by olive trees and scupltures.

Trulli are a typical sight in Puglia and here you can admire 42 of them. Renovated and transformed into a boutique hotel with pool, they offer quite a vision in the evening. The pool is massive (70 square meters) and sits in the centre of the estate. You are sure to sleep soundly in the trullo with their thick stone wall.

Masseria Don Cirillo is a gentle B&B located between the city of Ugento and the beautiful beaches of Torre San Giovanni.  Traditional Salentino furniture adorns the rooms, several of them being able to accommodate 3 or 4 people due to a large French bed. There is a pool and they also offer personalised breakfasts such as vegan or regional with a small supplement.

A very different b&b as this time it’s all modern.  The old farmhouse hosts the dining room and a relaxing area whereas new buildings have been erected around and house the rooms.  The space is clean, bright and definitely different from old trulli.  There is also a pool and you can enjoy cooking, yoga or even pottery lessons.

I received a news release from this B&B recently to announce the refurbishment as well as the opening of a new pool house and rooftop outdoor pool. It looks really inviting.  I also like the idea of the complimentary vespa tours!  There is also a hammam and the rate includes aperitif in the evening.
