North House, a beautiful hotel with heated pool on the isle of Wight

In France, we have a song by Michel Delpech called “Wight is Wight”. It’s a reference to the festival held on the Isle of Wight. Since hearing this in my childhood, I’ve always imagined the isle of wight as a bohemian place with lots of happy people!

I don’t know if that’s the case but if I ever go to find out, this very pretty and inviting hotel would be my base.

A renovated townhouse with garden and heated pool not far from the sea

North House is a Grade II listed townhouse located in the heart of Cowes Old Town.The house is situated within the Conservation Area of the old town of Cowes, close to the high street and its busy array of shops, restaurants, marinas and its various yacht clubs.

The house has been sympathetically renovated throughout and retains many of the original features and period quality, including its attractive authentic fireplaces.

What’s quite special is that there is a outdoor heated swimming pool! But you can also relax at the bar or in the very welcoming library.

As for the rooms, some of the 14 rooms have idyllic sea views and all are very welcoming with a decor that is both fresh and cosy. It seems very tasty.

Plus, the journey from London seems pretty easy: the high speed passenger ferry service to Southampton is less than a ten minute walk from the house, making the journey time from London only 2 hours.
