When I first checked the website of La Cour de Rémi, I immediately thought: this is really the kind of restoring weekend that I need. When I then explored further, I realized that actually this would be the perfect weekend for my English friends who crave a taste of authentic France.
Imagine, you can just get in your car (if you are in the SouthEast of England), cross the channel and instead of the trip to Carrefour to get some cheap wine, make the effort to drive further south. 60 miles from the ferry port of Calais, you’ll come across Sébastien’s place.
La Cour de Rémi, is a former farmhouse which is now converted into a restaurant and small hotel. Rooms are housed in the converted stables and have pared down decor to allow the authentic materials, exposed stone, wood, brick to shine.
Your kids will love it if you choose to stay in the treehouse. Plus there are animals around: goats, horses, chickens.
You? You will love the smell of the freshly baked home made brioche in the morning served with home made jams. Go for walks in the countryside during the day and return to enjoy the delicious food. You’ll start with an apéritif made of the home bread and terrine and will follow with a typical French bistro menu.
Oh and all of this won’t cost you the earth as the rooms start at 85 euros!
