The best villas or hotels with pools travel bloggers recommend

HotelsRentals

By now, you’ll know that I mostly feature and find hotels with pool and villas with swimming pools in Europe on the blog. One of the most popular post is actually about beach hotels with pools in Europe. But I thought it could be interesting for some of you to have addresses around the world.

So I asked one of my bloggers groups for their best villas or hotels with pools they stayed at.  The result is a collection of unique hotels with swimming pools from Asia to Italy via Zambia.  Enjoy!

Africa- best hotels with pools in Morocco, Uganda and Zambia

Mihingo Lodge, Uganda

What could be nicer than a beautiful eco-lodge with a pool? A pool with a view of course. You will find both in Mihingo Lodge at Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest of Uganda’s ten parks.

The rooms are actually luxury tents with a thatched roof and instead of windows, they have netting for unspoiled views over the bush – even from the toilet. Each tent comes with a private deck, coffee or tea in the morning, and even a cheeky monkey or two. There are no outlets in the rooms and the hotel has only one area for wifi – it is the perfect place to disconnect.

The pool in front of the restaurant offers the most magnificent views over the national park and this is the place to be after a morning game drive or walking safari, a perfect marriage between luxury and unspoiled nature.

Royal Zambezi, Zambia

Lavish Royal Zambezi is among the best lodges in Zambia and our personal favorites in Africa. Their secret: remote location in the wildlife-rich Lower Zambezi National Park combined with the ultimate luxury.

Deluxe suites and presidential suites have their own plunge pools overlooking the Zambezi River and passing elephant herds. Both suites also have freestanding copper baths and lovely outdoor showers, which are made for star-gazing. The 5-star villas blend in with the bush, offering prime wildlife watching opportunity right from your private veranda.

The highlights of our stay in Royal Zambezi were the daily activities with our private guide. Game drives in Lower Zambezi are among the best in Zambia. You can also take a bush walk or a canoe safari on Zambezi River, go tiger fishing, or hiking. Many guests even opt to skip the activities to enjoy the premises and indulge in the treats of Bush Spa: the first of its kind in Zambia.

The Capaldi Hotel, Morocco

If you’re visiting Marrakech for a few days it’s always a good idea to escape the heat and bustle of the city and enjoy some peaceful countryside life in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. One of our favourite luxury boutique retreats is The Capaldi, just 35 minutes from Marrakech but a world away from the city frenzy.

It’s a gorgeous, contemporary farmhouse set in lush grounds with stunning views of snow-capped mountains and distant berber villages. The 23 rooms are dotted about the lush manicured grounds, with palm trees lining the winding pathways. We loved the private cinema, the gourmet restaurant beneath the shade of an olive grove and the fact it was so quiet and relaxing.

But the best bit was the pool. Large enough to swim some proper lengths, never crowded, and possibly with the best view in all of Morocco.

Europe hotels with pools

Yacht Boheme Hotel, Fethiye, Turkey – adults only

Located in central Fethiye on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, Yacht Boheme Hotel is a chic boutique hotel with tasteful decor and the most beautiful pool complete with poolside cabanas.

If you can tear yourself away from this stunning property, you can head over to the famous Blue Lagoon in Oludeniz or Iztuzu Beach for a swim, explore ancient ruins and cities, visit rock tombs carved out of mountainsides or even try your hand at paragliding.

We loved the onsite bar and live jazz performances in the evening, and don’t even get me started about the incredible breakfast spread. If you’re traveling around Turkey by car, Yacht Boheme also offers free valet parking so you don’t have to worry about finding a space. Make sure you book a room with a view so that you can enjoy the dreamy sunsets from your very own balcony!

Torre Di Sebastiano, Sicily

Gaggi is an unassuming, authentic small town inland from the east coast of the Island of Sicily.  Torre Di Sebastiano is tucked away on a narrow street. From the outside the building doesn’t look like anything special.  On entering you are transported into a very stylish, comfortable B & B style home. The shared living room and kitchen space are spacious and full of decadent pieces of furniture.

The real gem of the property is the outside space.  A very private, lush, terraced garden space has lots of little quiet spaces to enjoy al fresco dining or just a peaceful spot to enjoy some sun and a good book.  There is a lovely little pool with outdoor showering area on the top terrace. It is the perfect place to enjoy some relaxation and tranquillity.

Best of all for me was that my travel companion, Annie the dog, was welcomed too.

Corte Dei Messapi, Puglia

Corte dei Messapi is a luxury villa tucked in between the olive groves a short distance from Ostuni (also known as The White City) in Puglia. Built in the traditional style, this modern villa is well positioned to make the most of the sun and its semi-rural environment.

With 7 rooms in the main villa, it makes the perfect place for a large family reunion, or to celebrate with friends. There is also a smaller 3-bedroomed villa on the same plot – complete with its own swimming pool, plus another 1-bedroom villa, and 1-bedroom traditional trullo for those who want their own privacy.

The entire estate is beautifully presented; with lots of lovely features including the large swimming pool, rooftop spa, kids play area, and large wrap-balcony. Inside, you’ll find locally sourced artwork and all the mod cons you’d expect from such an upscale property.

Asia Pacific, hotels with pools in Bali, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and Australia

The Library, Koh Samui, Thailand

Bibliophiles rejoice! There’s a beachfront hotel in Koh Samui, Thailand designed just for us. I loved it so much, I got married there!

Sleek white design, an obsessive-compulsive’s attention to the theme of books, and an unparalleled blood-red swimming pool stand in stark contrast to the turquoise blue waters of Koh Samui’s Chaweng Beach. The Library’s luxurious suite / studio cabins are divided and discreetly placed all around the hotel’s grounds, giving each room a special privacy from which to enjoy the serene surroundings. It’s easy to get wonderfully lost in the pages of this modern boutique hotel, surrounded by lush green landscape and the minimalist figures of “readers” scattered about the grounds.

For a special treat, be sure to reserve their signature Breakfast Culture, where brunch is served to you right on the beach, while you lay on a comfy white mattress, surveying the perfection of the sea before you.

The Adelphi, Melbourne, Australia

Venturing away from Europe today with this list of best villas or hotels with pools that my fellow travel bloggers friends stayed at.  The result is a collection of unique hotels with swimming pools from Asia to Italy via Zambia.  Enjoy!
© Adelphi

The Adelphi Hotel is one of Melbourne’s most spectacular hidden hotels. From the moment you step inside you are taken on a visual journey. A journey filled with sweet treats. On check in you’re handed a small treat bag and offered to fill it with jelly beans to start your stay with.

When you arrive into your gorgeous room, a visual experience on it’s own, you’re treated to a world of sweet wonder with a complimentary snack bar. If you can stop indulging from the snack bar, rolling around in the king bed or soaking in the enormous shower it’s time to go up to the rooftop pool.

A glass-bottomed, cantilevered swimming pool that extends a full two metres beyond the building’s periphery to hover above Flinders Lane, the pool is quite fantastic. We had a great time relaxing there.

Waking up at Slow Gili Air private pool villas completes your Gili Island experience. With only 10 pool villas, Slow quickly feels like your home away from home. Start your day with breakfast delivered to your villa.  Relax at the beach, snorkel, taste the traditional food.

Villa Asmara, North Bali

Villa Asmara is a beautiful 5BHK villa located in Dencarik in North Bali. Away from the crowds of South Bali, this property spoils you for choices. Soak up the sun in the infinity pool or walk straight out onto the beach. If that’s not enough, they have a housekeeper who cooks amazing local Indonesian food. They also have a masseuse who will come and give you a massage on the balcony overlooking the sea but cleverly hidden away by foliage. There’s also a pool table, books and dvds to ensure that you do not get bored.

The cherry on top was the walk we took on the beach at sunset. As the sun started going down the villa was lit up. That romantic environment will melt any girl’s heart. If you are thinking of a proposal, we cannot think of a better option.

Wapa Di Ume, Ubud, Bali

Walking around the grounds of Wapa Di Ume Resort you so easily relax into the chilled out vibe of Ubud. The stunning rice terraces make a stunning back drop for not one but three stunning pools. The infinity pool set high above the river gives you the feeling you are floating in the top of the palm trees while you swim in the pool. Lazing by the pool reading a book was so relaxing that I didn’t want to leave. The two central pools of the resort are a great place to catch up with friends after a fantastic massage at the on-site spa. The food, the staff and the stunning rooms make this luxurious Bali resort one to remember.

Pavilion Hotel, Phnom Penh Cambodia (adults only)

The Pavilion Hotel in Phnom Penh is a lush green boutique property just minutes away from the Royal Palace. The 36 guest rooms are housed across 4 historic properties dating to the 1920s this adult only hotel creates an ambiance of French Colonial Cambodia. We immediately felt as if we had entered another time.

We stayed in one of the four private pool rooms that are in the 1960s Palace Veterinarians residence. The private courtyard featured a 6 x 3m swimming pool and small garden with sun loungers and table and chairs.

There are two other swimming pools on the property that are open 24 hours, one is shaded by palms and bamboo and feels very jungle like, the other lies in full sun ready and waiting for those partial to tanning all day, both have all day bar service. It is a very hard place to leave when your holiday is over.

Hotel Tugu, Lombok, Indonesia

Hotel Tugu Lombok, one of the best hotels with pools as selected by travel bloggers. Read the post for more hotels with swimming pools around the world.

Situated on a powder white sand beach in the north of the Indonesian island of Lombok is the remarkable Hotel Tugu. Part of a small group of Tugu hotels privately owned by Indonesia’s largest art and antiques collector the hotel is furnished with a stunning collection of beautiful and often rare artifacts, furniture and art work. In fact in many respects it feels like a small museum than a hotel.

The gorgeous main swimming pool juts out from the massive open air logia that serves as both a restaurant and pool bar and the expansive gardens and beach provide a huge range of things to do. We took the hotel Dragon Boat and skipper out for a day trip to the Gili Islands which sit just 15 minutes off the coast. The food is also excellent and very good value.

We have since stayed at other Tugu hotels in Indonesia and they are all excellent but the service, the food, the location and the ambience of Tugu Lombok ensures it remains our favourite.

The best hotels with pools in Bali, Zambia, Uganda, Morocco, Turkey, Italy, Cambodia, Thailand and Australia according to travel bloggers.
