Whatever you’re into, you’re sure to find it at Domaine des Etangs.  Here are the activities that are on site

  • Cycling: you can take any of the bikes by the conservatory and go for a lovely ride around the domain.  It’s a great way to discover what they do: you will come across the cottages but also the farm and old ruins.  The nature is just totally idyllic.
  • Electric cars: if you rent a cottage, you’ll be assigned a cute blue electric car;  You can roll up the sides and the top and your kids (or even you) will probably love standing up in the back! With this, it’s easy to go from the cottages to the restaurant. If you are in the castle or the “longère” you can borrow one of them provided that it’s not needed by the cottage tenants.
  • Boat rowing:  a few “barques” are dotted all around the domain.  Jump in one and ask your partner to row for you, very romantic! We did this the second morning and stayed in silence and relaxation in the middle of the lake listening to the birds singing.

You can easily spend days at the Domaine des Etangs and not be bored. There are so many activities to keep you and the children occupied.

Spa and treatments

If you have a room in the castle, then you can use the “thermes” in the lower ground floor.  There is an indoor pool which is more for treatment than swimming.  There are a variety of jets and bubbles and mini water massages you can try.

They also suggest you a circuit around the various steam rooms.

For anyone you can book a treatment in the Moulin (the Mil).  The old mill, which used to produce nut oil, has been restored and offers a wonderful luxurious space and several cabins for treatment.

The room for the couple massage is absolutely fantastic as it has kept the two  old milling machines.  You can also ask your child to join you as they have planned treatments for them in that room.

I had a wonderful massage with Lucie there. The little surprises at the end of the treatment are also perfect but I’ll let you discover what they are!

And even more activities…

  • Walks: there are of course wonderful walks to do all around the domain.  Ask for suggestions at reception.
  • Pool: the outdoor pool was not open when we were there. It’s situation facing the lake is nonetheless really pretty.  The pigeon house nearby will allow you to get changed or take a shower.  It looks like in the summer there could be a mini bar by the pool too.
  • Gym: with acres of greenery around, it would be a pity not to go running, which we did early in the morning.  But if it’s terrible weather, the gym is well equipped, has lovely greenery, water and is air conditioned.
  • Tennis, ping pong table, games, reading: if you get bored, there are still all of these activities to try.
  • Art: there are so many pieces of art and object around the castle and the domain.  The quality of restoration is in itself a piece of art too.  Looking at the stones, the wood, the fittings, the finishing was an occupation in itself!
