There is no doubt that Portugal is the new destination for design boutique hotel lovers. I think I have written more posts about new places there this year than for any other country.
A great reinvention of a former ruined farmhouse
And here is another one that confirms the trend. Casa Azimute was a former farmhouse that has been transformed by the owners Andy and Danny into a modern sleek B&B in the Alentejo region.
Only 1h30 from Lisbon, the long and low old building has seen the addition of a minimalist and chic extension where the bedrooms are. The complete building is set in 28 hectares of raw nature overlooking the countryside and the medieval city of Estremoz on the horizon.
I love the mix of modern decor touches and traditional Portuguese design: varnish cement floors married with hand-painted tiles, sleek showers or free standing bath bus warmed up with locally woven rugs for instance.
Families are welcome and the tranquillity will suit everyone
There are four rooms and two suites and many of them can be accommodated to arrange families with baby cots or extra beds for older children.
The place only opened in April 2017 but already guests are gushing about the wonderful welcome and the services. It seems to be an oasis of peace and tranquillity.
You can even enjoy the house all to yourselves as you can rent Casa Azimute in its totality.
I really have to start planning a trip to Portugal!
