We are discussing blogging and life at a long refectory wooden table siting on funky red metal chairs. The wine and discussion are flowing and so are the smoothies as we have a few veggies and boho ladies in the room. From one side of the table we have a sweeping view of the green Somerset hills dotted with sheeps grazing peacefully. The other side is opening onto the courtyard which at night will twinkle with fairy lights.
We are at the Bloggers Retreat, masterfully organised by Claire and Laura Twins that Travel and Monica from The Travel Hack.
The retreat is hosted in Boheme, one of Unique Home Stays properties that you can rent.
They specialise in homes that have interior design quality but feel very welcoming nonetheless. No need to worry that you’re going to damage the perfect minimalist decor or that the tap is so special that you can’t figure how to operate it.
Here it’s all about cozy sofas that you sink into, original materials framing the rooms, surprising touches everywhere such as the house rules written on the wall when you go down from one of the bedroom, and everything you need to cook a feast in the perfectly equipped kitchen to enjoy with your fellow hosts.
This is the perfect setting for a group gathering and I can’t help thinking that it would be a fabulous place for Mr Big’s milestone birthday in a few years.
Admire the peaceful countryside from the indoor heated pool
Boheme can sleep 20 in 10 different bedrooms. Some are en suite, many share a bathroom. All have comfortable beds with white pillows and duvets and fluffy towels.
You can even admire the beautiful countryside view from the indoor heated pool. It comes with a sauna, some more seating areas to relax and floating polo goals and a pink flamingo for the kids to enjoy.
The big kids will like the pool table in the vast lounge. Alternatively you can project a movie onto the big wall above the fireplace, creating your own indoor cinema.
If you are lazy, Unique Home Stays can put you in touch with local caterers who can come cook for you. At the Bloggers Retreat, we had a mostly vegetarian diner using the local produce. Some very interesting and new flavours.
It’s hard to explain the peace and serenity that you enjoy in La Boheme. The combination of space, beautiful decor, setting in the countryside was exactly what I needed after a few difficult days back in grey corporate London . If I have one word of advice to give you it’s: grab your friends, figure out an excuse and go enjoy that wonderful house.
And if you want more ideas for a group rental, make sure to check these other places.
