My selection of Morocco hotels with pools

Morocco Hotels

For a while, I’ve been meaning to share my selection of Morocco hotels with pools.

I’ve been to Morocco twice: the first time was a true adventure with a group of friends.  We were a caravan of 4L and went to explore the Atlas mountains and beyond, going all the way to Ouarzazate. We camped every night and some nights were lucky to stop at a village where the locals would cook food for us. That’s because one of the group members was a Moroccan teacher at the French lycée and his family lived there.

The second time, was with a friend. We visited Marrakech itself, then went for a trek in the Atlas mountains, sleeping with the locals, and ended up with a stay on the coast at Essaouira. We were two ladies and were very observant of the women’s life.  I would have lots to say but that will be for another post.

Those hotels are far from the more adventurous journeys that I did but now that I’m older, it’s the way I would experience Morocco!  Hope you enjoy that selection of Morocco hotels with pools.

El Fenn

El Fenn, one of the Morocco hotels with pools selected by From the Poolside

El Fenn is a beautiful boutique hotel in Marrakech. The hotel is a hub of art and culture, with walls adorned with pieces to enjoy.  The vibrancy of Morocco is reflected in the hotel’s decor, with vibrant colours and hand crafted pieces. This is definitely a From the Poolside hotel as it boasts 3 pools, one on the rooftop with amazing views, a plunge pool, and a spa pool!

Riad Mena & Beyond

A selection of Morocco hotels with pools where I would stay if I was going back to Morocco for the third time.

Riad Mena is just 7 minutes from Marrakech in the heart of the Medina, just seven minutes walk through picturesque alleyways to Marrakech´s main-square, the Jemaa el Fna. The large Riad lets guests choose from seven varied bedroom suites, all decorated with a neutral interpretation of the Moroccan style. Each suite is unique and couples traditional style with hints of the modern.

Surrounding the accommodations are beautiful plant-filled courtyards, which lead to the outdoor pool surrounded by classic tiling.

Tarabel, Marrakech

Tarabel is also situated in Medina. Housed in a colonial-style mansion, the Riad Tarabel has 10 rooms & suites, all individually styled and all providing a Moroccan breakfast. Traditional Moroccan cuisine is also served throughout the day.  An elegant outdoor pool finishes the terrace in style.

L’Hotel Marrakech

L'Hotel Marrakech by Jasper Conran, one of the Morocco hotels with pools selected by From the Poolside

Close to the vibrant centre of Marrakech, L’Hotel Marrakech is owned by famous designer Jasper Conran so style  and craftmanship are very much centre stage. The hotel has 5 suites, all offering spacious accommodation with top class furnishings and amenities, and some rooms can be adjoined for families. The rooms all overlook the hotel’s courtyard which features a fountain and an abundance of flowers and fruits trees. The garden is also home to the swimming pool, which can be enjoyed in the day or the evening, when candles and lanterns are lit creating a wonderful atmosphere.

Dar Kawa

Found in the centre of the Old Town, Dar Kawa is an expertly renovated house from the 17th Century. The hotel is a charming representation of Moroccan traditional style with hints of eccentric design. There are 3 suites and 1 double bedroom, and the house can also be rented in its entirety, all uniquely finished. There is a courtyard with a large daybed, and a rooftop terrace to soak up the sun or take some shade, whilst tasting the homemade food on offer.

Dar Ahlam

A selection of Morocco hotels with pools where I would stay if I was going back to Morocco for the third time.

Dar Ahlam is quite a unique place. It’s a hotel  by Thierry Teyssier, which means that staying there is more an experience than a classic hotel stay.  We were lucky to enjoy that experience in his former hotel in Portugal and  it was really special!

A 200 year old Kasbah, it is located on the edge of the Moroccan desert with views of the beautiful Atlas Mountains.  The hotel has 14 rooms, all of which have been carefully restored to keep the history intact.  Outside there is a pool shaded by palm trees and there are various spa treatments available.  Dar Ahlam gives its guests the whole package – rates are based on an all-inclusive stay, with meals and drinks prepared customised to your taste.
