Today, I am taking you to Ireland where the Bellinter House caught my eyes. I thought it would be a nice follow-on to Finn Lough and the upcoming Wilderness Reserve review. They are all about having a relaxing countryside retreat.
A bohemian house with a subtile quiet atmosphere
Bellinter House is perfect for an escape from Dublin or for a quick dash to Ireland from the UK. It’s only 25 miles from the city before you catch a glimpse of the house set in the beautiful County Meath countryside and on the banks of the River Boyne.
It offers luxurious rooms, a bathhouse spa and the Eden Restaurant.
There is a bohemian feel to the place with staff often labelled as “quirky” but very friendly and efficient. The house itself has a subdued, yet stylist and cool hipster like atmosphere.
The perfect recipe for relaxation: great decor, hot tub and gardens
Rooms are a mix of modern and antiques. Some have lovely wooden floors, antique fireplaces, high ceilings or old radiators. Expect modern facilities though with big TV and well equipped bathrooms. Extra large beds are adorned with crisp white sheets, goose feather pillows and thick duvets. Some rooms have exposed beams and countryside views.
The Bathouse is their mini spa. No pool but an outside wooden hot tub. There is a sauna and steam room too. Be prepared to walk a bit outside as there is a walk between the house and the spa. The plus side is that you get lovely countryside views from the relaxation room.
Lots of activities for kids and adults alike
Back in the main house, you can relax in the library, games room or by the bar. The restaurant serves fine cuisine and the Wine Bar offers tastings. There is a games room and library. The room where diner is server is whitewashed, with vaulted ceilings, elegantly decorated with white flowers and candles.
For the kids, in addition to the board games, you can let them roam in the gardens, arrange some horseriding or take them to one of the farms, zoos or theme parks nearby.
There is also a golf 3 km from the hotel.
All the criteria for a perfect countryside weekend, don’t you think?
