13 beach hotels with heated pools

FranceGreeceItaly Hotels

Finding beach hotels with heated pools is definitely the main request from many of you.  The list belong, along with this other list of beach hotels will hopefully be a good starting point. I have updated it with some more hotels for 2018.

The criteria for beach hotels with heated pools

  • hotel with heated pool (to 28 degrees or above) this can be either indoor or outdoor, it might be that there are limited swimming times for children
  • walking distance or short drive to beach
  • ideally no more than an hour from the airport

I searched for some time and have found several beach hotels with heated pools that match most of the criteria. The walking distance to beach and village in particular is a tricky one as small independent hotels with heated pools need space so are often well hidden in the countryside.

There are many more hotels and B&B with heated pools on this blog. Make sure to check them out.

Hostal Spa Empuries, Costa Brava

Hotel Empuries Spain, on the Costa Brava, one of 13 beach boutique hotels with a heated pool found on https://fromthepoolside.com.

We just came back from the Costa Brava two weeks ago and I can vouch for its beautiful coast and calas (coves). At that time of the year, it should be great as not as crowded as when we  were there.

This hotel has both an outdoor pool and one heated pool in the spa and is right on the beach. In September you could indulge with a spa quadruple which has its own terrace and a separate area with a sofabed.  Some rooms are prettier than others.

Some rooms also have hot tubs. Cots for under-three are free; extra beds cost €50 for under-nines and €80 for under-12s. Ask three days in advance and a nanny can babysit for €15 an hour.

Capo la Gala is a 40-minute drive from Naples, and 20 minutes by car from both Pompei and Sorrento. There’s free parking as well.

Masseria Prosperi, Puglia

Masseria Prosperi, Puglia, Italy, one of 13 beach boutique hotels with a heated pool found on https://fromthepoolside.com. They also have animals so really nice for little ones.
© Masseria Prosperi

It’s more of a B&B than a hotel but it has the benefit of having two pools (one heated indoor and one outdoors) as well as farm animals (donkeys, ponies, horses, chickens and goats) ! Wonderful for little ones. The indoor heated one has a wide shallow shelf for non-swimmers and toddlers to play safely on; the outdoor unheated one has a parapet surrounding it and a shallow end under the trees. Meals are on request but are said to be delicious.

Near Montpellier, a lovely town in France,  where the weather should be really nice at the end of September.  There is an outdoor pool encircled by lush lawns, pine and palm trees, and lots of vines and a heated indoor hydrotherapy pool in the spa. The beaches (public or private, i.e. with lounge beds that you pay for) are less than 15 minutes away.

Heads up that it’s €20 a day to use the spa, unless you’re staying in a Junior Suite or have a treatment booked. Cots are provided free of charge; extra beds are €65. The restaurant has a children’s menu, and breakfast is included for under-12s. A local babysitter can be arranged.

It’s a 5 stars hotel but they have deals via the Design Hotels website.  The heated pool is “200 square m2” (which seems massive to me, I suppose it’s a typo) and of course the rooms are quite spacious.

Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel, France

The outdoor pool is heated. This one fits the bill the most with its location on the beach, a restaurant opening onto their own private beach, a pool, enough bedrooms and possibilities to accommodate families. It is a five-star luxury hotel but they regularly do offers with more attractive prices.

Corsica is just beautiful, one of the most beautiful islands in the world and the weather in September is fab!  Some of the decoration in this hotel is a bit on the rustic side but the situation and the gardens and the terraced outdoor heated pool are just amazing. This blog is all about boutique hotels but in this case, I’m adding a few bigger hotels as they are very popular for families.

Borgo Egnazia, Italy

Borgo Egnazia a luxury hotel near the beach and with heated pool. Read the post for more places like this.
© Borgo Egnazia

Inspired by the traditional architecture from Puglia and arabic palaces, Borgo Egnazia Hotel opened a few years ago  to offer stylish holidays to families.  You can rent a villa or a bedroom.  Make sure to check the villa description as some are smaller than it might seem.  Once there, you’ll have 4 swimming pools, a 1800-m² wellness centre and won’t be far from a golf. You can also go to their private beach club in Savelletri, 0.9 miles away.

Finally…

I also found Eagles Palace* in Greece: They have a limited September offer where they offer 20% off plus half board upgrade. Not my usual choice as big hotel but  the prices are good and it’s right on the beach. There’s also a heated  pool.

  1. Stephanie! What a fun site you have! My goodness, I have travel envy. I’ve always thought it fascinating how Europeans get such varied cultural experiences and holidays because of the close proximity to other countries. Such a plus! (Plus I think that the professional culture there allows for more vacation time than the US. Americans really need to learn to holiday more, right?) Keep up the inspiring work:)

  2. This list is a lifesaver as I’m running out of time in finding a hotel that will have a ‘swimmable’ pool for my 11-month-old baby. Do you recommend any of these hotels for a couple going on holiday with a baby? I’ve been known to be very picky with hotels in my travels prior to having my son – mostly luxury hotels (SLH, LHW Relais&Chateaux) and now I find myself looking at all-inlcusives in Gran Canaria. *cry* Any help would be massively appreciated!

    • Yes absolutely, that was the brief given to me by Mary-Jane so all the hotels here should be fine. We were like you, loving nice hotesl before haivng a family, and didn’t want to give that up after we had a baby. You’ll find that most luxury hotels are really welcoming to parents with kids. It’s all about ensuring that they behave well so that they don’t disturb the other guests! You can certainly avoid Gran Canaria kind of resorts. In 10 years since Mademoiselle was born, we never had to do that!

    • 5 star Seaside hotel Palm Beach in Gran Canaria has a perfect adult only pool 33 degrees and a very large pool for all at 28 degrees.
There is also a mini pool for babies and small children only don’t know how warm that would be but it can’t be cold.
Never stayed twice in the same hotel but for this hotel I will make an exception and we heard people coming there for 20 -30 years and service is always excellent.
