Initially, this summer, we wanted to rent a villa in Mallorca. My parents and brother made several trips there and sold us the delights of the island. So here I go searching all over the web to find ourselves the perfect holiday home.
In the end, when Michelle sent me photos of her villa in Tamariu to be featured on the blog, we couldn’t resist and book it for ourselves.
But my search was not in vain as hopefully my selection below will help you find your own perfect holiday place. These are the criteria that we had and that were used for these houses.
I was looking for a nice villa big enough for two families with
- 4 bedrooms or sleeping 8
- a pool
- a nice garden and being in the countryside
- ideally an old renovated house
- with a decor not too shabby or old-fashioned
- and wifi
A rural finca near Campanet
- 4 bedrooms£2188 per week in the summer
- £2188 per week in the summer
This is a typical finca full of rustic charm. I love the majesty of the old stones and the ancient kitchen. There is a massive pool and a huge garden perfect for children to be entertained for hours.
A village house in Alcudia
- sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms£2571 per week in the summer
- £2571 per week in the summer
Space has been cleverly re-imagined in this village house and you get a very modern open plan kitchen living room opening onto a lovely courtyard with plunge pool. Plus, easy walk to the shops as you are in the village!
An old stone house in the countryside
- 5 bedrooms, can sleep 12
- £2381 per week in the summer
A very classic Spanish decor inside this house but a beautiful pool area and the building itself is just superb with its old stone. As it’s a bit more in the center of Mallorca, the price is good but you can still easily go to beaches by car.
A modern house near Pollensa
- 4 bedrooms
- £2523 in the summer
This doesn’t exactly match the “old house” criteria of an old house but the decor is well done and the garden space, pool and location near Pollensa is very attractive.
An enchanting villa not far from Palma
- 4 bedrooms minimum £2000 per week (exact prices for summer not visible on the site)
- minimum £2000 per week (exact prices for summer not visible on the site)
The gardens of this house are just delightful. I can so imagine ourselves having dinner on the terrace in the evening. How beautiful is that!
A vast property near Pollensa
- 4 bedrooms
- From £2500 per week
This property has it all for families: a nice size pool, lovely outdoor space, nice clean decor with touches of colour and even a playroom for the children!
A stylish finca in Soller
- 4 bedrooms
- From £2500 a week in high season
I haven’t selected houses in Soller or Deia because the area is beautiful but maybe not very suited for families and children. There are no long beaches nearby and it’s very mountainous. However, if you have older children who prefer to spend all their time in the pool, then this house is beautifully decorated and very “movie like”.
